The last 12 months has been a tumultuous time for markets, with questions being raised over whether legislation and regulation have created systemic investment risks. This session looks at the longer-term investment impacts of pension scheme regulation, and the lessons that can be learned from recent events. With this in mind, Carl and Dan identify ways to mitigate future such risks for DB schemes as they mature and approach their end-game.

This session provides:

  • An appreciation of how financial regulation with a shorter-term focus can lead to unwanted systemic investment risks
  • A better understanding of the limitations and constraints that short-term focussed pensions regulation imposes on DB investors
  • Solutions to the DB investment strategy conundrum; namely of how to navigate short-term measurement requirements while delivering long-term security of benefits
